for 1863, the serial numbers each marked with a letter 'L' for 'LONDON' above or below, with round 8in. re-blued barrel with minimal traces of address, nickel fore-sight, sighting notch to the hammer nose, plain stepped cylinder with traces of a roll-engraved scene, iron open frame marked 'COLT'S PATENT' (rubbed), brass trigger-guard and iron back strap, one-piece smooth walnut grip and creeping under-barrel rammer, the whole refinished with some shallow pitting, London proofs
